Go Oregon! projects at the Oregon Department of Transportation are mostly complete. From new fences to new roofs, from making bathrooms ADA compliant to replacing broken windows with energy efficient ones, state-owned facilities around the state got much-needed improvements in this program. Approved by Governor Kulongoski and the 2009 Oregon Legislature, the $175 million Go Oregon! program has sent work to hundreds of businesses and kept thousands of Oregonians working.
ODOT's progress as of March 1, 2010:
- Ninety-six projects are complete.
- For projects complete or partially complete, ODOT has paid out $3,168,340.
- Three projects were cancelled because repairs needed were beyond what the legislature ordered.
- Two projects that were on hold are now moving forward (decommissioning of two rest areas). The design contract has been awarded on one project. Both projects are scheduled for completion in mid-2010.
One of the more impressive accomplishments in ODOT's portion of the Go Oregon! program is the involvement of small businesses. Seventy-three contracts and sub-contracts valued at $1,569,990 were awarded to emerging small, women-owned, minority-owned, and disadvantaged businesses. Overall, 58 percent of contracts awarded in the Go Oregon! program went to emerging small businesses.
