The purpose of the Public Transportation Advisory Committee (PTAC) is to provide a forum for public and special-needs transportation providers within Oregon. The committee provides input into the Oregon Transportation Commission and Public Transit Division on significant transportation issues.
In addition to making policy and program recommendations, PTAC members promote alternative transportation modes and support transportation options, endorsing local community and regional solutions.

Introduction
The Public Transportation Advisory Committee (PTAC) advises the Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) on planning and developing efficient and effective public transportation services. PTAC provides support and advocacy for transportation services.
Statement of Purpose:
The Oregon Department of Transportation will establish and support a citizen advisory committee, appointed by the Oregon Transportation Commission and staffed by Public Transit Division, to advise ODOT on development and integration of alternative modes, especially transit, TDM and intercity bus. The committee will advise and make recommendations to ODOT and others on policy and implementation issues related to alternative mode programs, modal choices and issues, and interaction between modes. The committee will provide support and advocacy of alternative modes to ODOT and the public.
Applicants to Committee must be nominated then the OTC will select PTAC Members from a pre-qualified list of candidates.
The Committee will have representation from public transportation consumers, providers, local transportation planning organizations, agencies with related transportation functions, and general public. At least two representatives of each group will be selected.
PTAC Responsibilities:
- PTAC studies policies and program of ODOT which affect public transportation services.
- Members prioritize and make recommendations on plans for public transportation services, including technical assistance and training support.
- PTAC coordinates with other ODOT advisory groups, Human Resource advisory committees, and other committees concerned with public transportation to ensure smooth transition to coordinated transportation planning and delivery of transportation services.
- PTAC makes recommendations regarding development, maintenance and coordination of ODOT policies and programs to ensure consistency with the Oregon Transportation Plan (OTP) and applicable laws and policies.
- PTAC members will respond to issues brought to it by the public, other interested organizations, PTD and the OTC.
- PTAC promotes statewide advocacy for efficient and effect public transportation.
