Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Iowa Street Viaduct Replacement: A contractor is working to replace a viaduct on I-5 that crosses a ravine at SW Iowa Street (milepost 298) just north of Terwilliger Boulevard (exit 297) and just south of Corbett Avenue (exit 298). The project includes building a temporary detour bridge on the west side of I-5. The hiking trail that crosses under I-5 connecting Terwilliger Boulevard to Corbett Street remains closed during this project.
During the week of Monday, Feb. 20, through Friday, Feb. 24, the contractor will work on the east side of the freeway building retaining walls, starting work on the new bridge, working on electrical systems and widening shoulders.
This work requires daytime shoulder closures in both directions on I-5 in the project area. Motorists should expect trucks entering and exiting the northbound lanes of I-5 from the worksite between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The speed limit on I-5 is reduced to 50 mph in the work area. This speed reduction is in effect 24 hours a day and will remain in place for the duration of the project. Please be alert to enhanced police traffic patrols in the work area.

Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Holladay Street to Marquam Bridge: Work is under way on a project to install variable speed limit signs on I-5 and I-405 in the Portland area and to perform concrete repairs and bridge deck work on I-5 between Holladay Street in the Rose Quarter and the north end of the Marquam Bridge. Most of the bridge and concrete repair work on I-5 will take place in 2012.
No work is planned on this project this week.

Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Southbound: Carman Drive to Lower Boones Ferry Road: Work is under way on a project to extend the fourth lane of I-5 southbound that currently tapers off just south of the Carman Drive off-ramp in Tigard. This lane extension will continue south and connect with the existing exit-only lane for Lower Boones Ferry Road. Additional work includes shifting east the I-5 southbound on-ramp from Carman Drive to better align with the new lane. Construction should be complete in August 2012.
Next week, the contractor plans to work on the I-5 southbound on-ramp from Carman Drive during daytime hours. The work not impact traffic.

Work includes widening the shoulders on I-5, removing noxious weeds, improving landscaping, replacing signs and protecting wetlands. Work requiring lane closures will take place at night when traffic volumes on I-5 are lower.
During the daytime, the contractor will continue work on lighting and other tasks with intermittent shoulder closures on I-5 and the Elligsen Road on-ramp to I-5 northbound.
Drivers are advised to slow down in the project area and watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone.

Daytime work will include crews working on retaining walls on the I-5 northbound Wilsonville Road off-ramp and along Wilsonville Road. Work will not affect traffic this week.

* Jordan Road at I-84: Expect alternating one-way traffic controlled by temporary signals. Vertical clearance is 14 feet, 9 inches. Please follow parking restrictions and drive carefully through the work zone.
* Sandy River users (at I-84): Expect work crews near and in the waterway and construction activities on the temporary bridges. Approach the work area with caution. Stay clear of construction activities. Please follow instructions from flaggers.
Project summary: Replace one bridge on Interstate 84 and improve cross roads at the Oregon 35 intersection in Hood River.
* I-84 at milepost 64 (Hood River): This project is complete with the exception of weather-dependent permanent striping scheduled for the spring of 2012.

U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) Modernization Project: Cornell Road to 185th Avenue: A contractor is widening U.S. 26 between Cornell Road and 185th Avenue. Once complete, there will be three lanes in each direction in this section of highway along with median cable barrier, widened shoulders, and new pavement and striping. The contractor opened the new lanes on U.S. 26 between SW 185th and Cornell Road in both directions in fall 2011. Work is scheduled to be complete in fall 2012.
A right lane closure is planned on U.S. 26 westbound in the project area to repair a patch on the roadway. This will take place one day next week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.
The contractor plans to install highway signs this week with no impact to traffic. There may be shoulder closures on the on- and off-ramps in the project area.

U.S. 30 (Lower Columbia River Highway) Eilertsen Creek Bridge Construction: A contractor is working to replace a culvert on U.S. 30 near Woodson Road, five miles west from Clatskanie. Replacing the culvert with a bridge will allow the water from Eilertsen Creek to flow freely, reducing the chances of debris flows.
Work on this project will resume in the spring.

Oregon Highway 8 (Tualatin-Valley Highway) at SW 178th Avenue Safety Project: Work continues on a safety project to install a traffic signal and new crosswalk at the intersection of TV Highway and SW 178th Avenue.
The contractor will be doing electrical and sidewalk work, adjusting signal heads and striping (weather permitting). This will require intermittent single lane closures on TV Highway during daytime hours.

Oregon Highway 35 (Mt. Hood Highway) White River Bridge: Work continues on a project on Oregon Highway 35 to reconstruct the highway and build a new bridge over the White River (milepost 61 – 62) and the Clark Newton (milepost 65 – 68). This area has experienced significant debris flow in past winters damaging the highway and bridge.
Work on this project will resume in spring 2012.

Oregon Highway 43 Oregon City - West Linn Arch (Willamette River) Bridge Rehabilitation Project: A contractor is working on a project to rehabilitate the Arch Bridge. Work includes replacing the protective coating, replacing or repairing the steel support beams, replacing bridge railings and lighting and resurfacing the bridge deck.
The Arch Bridge is closed to all traffic for two years during construction. Motorists can use the Interstate 205 Abernethy (Willamette River) Bridge during the closure.
Night work will continue on the Arch Bridge from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. This will not require lane closures.
During the day, work will continue on the West Linn side of the bridge on concrete and steel repair, painting and sidewalk demolition. This will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Oregon Highway 202 (Nehalem Highway) Banzer Bridge Replacement Project: A contractor is working on a project to replace the Banzer Bridge over the Nehalem River, located on Highway 202 between Mist and Birkenfeld. Motorists should expect up to 20-minute delays in the project area.
During the week, the contractor will continue concrete work on the bridge and building the new roadway. Traffic is now using the new side of the bridge. Temporary traffic signals and flaggers will control single lane traffic through the project area along the new roadway alignment 24 hours a day.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) Milk Creek Bridge Replacement: A contractor is working on a project to replace the Milk Creek Bridge and widen Highway 213 between the Milk Creek Bridge and Passmore Road to accommodate a continuous left turn lane, wider shoulders, curbs and sidewalks. Additionally, the work will include improving sight distance at the intersections of Highway 213 at Graves Road and Mulino Road. Daytime lane closures on Highway 213 will take place Monday through Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Weekend lane closures are prohibited between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The contractor is working on various tasks along OR 213 with no impact on traffic.
Motorists should watch for trucks leaving and entering the highway at the north and south ends of the bridge from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Access to Milk Creek Road at the intersection with the bridge remains closed. Motorists can access Highway 213 from the south end of Milk Creek Road.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) I-205 to Redland Road Overcrossing (Jughandle) Project: Construction is underway on a project to build a new bridge and widen Highway 213 between I-205 and Redland Road. Improvements include improving signals and ramps at I-205.
There will be daytime work on Highway 213 adjacent to northbound and southbound travel lanes between Redland Road and the I-205 Bridge. Work will be behind concrete barriers and guardrails with no travel lane closures expected. Motorists should watch for trucks entering and exiting the construction work zone. Nighttime work on Highway 213 in the northbound and southbound travel lanes between Redland Road and the I-205 bridge will require closure of travel lanes. Traffic control devices will direct traffic. Motorists should watch for trucks entering and exiting the construction work zone.
In addition, there will be daytime work adjacent to and on Washington Street, with travel lane closures expected. Flaggers will direct traffic.
There will be daytime work adjacent to and on Clackamas River Drive, with no travel lane closures expected. There will be daytime work adjacent to Redland Road, with no travel lane closures expected. Motorists should watch for trucks entering and exiting the construction work zone.
Note: The City’s contractor has announced that the construction team expects to reach a major milestone in late March: installation of the new Highway 213 bridge. The bridge is a key part of the design to improve safety and the flow of traffic on the congested stretch of highway near the I-205 interchange. To allow the contractor to install the bridge safely and quickly, ODOT will temporarily close all travel lanes on Highway 213 between the northbound I-205 on/off ramps and the Washington Street/Clackamas River Drive intersection. The full closure is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 and end by 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. A signed detour route will be in effect. Use of a rapid bridge construction process enables the contractor to keep all Highway 213 travel lanes open in the daytime during all but four days of the nearly two-year construction project.

Historic Columbia River Highway: John B Yeon State to Moffett Creek Project: A contractor has started construction on a new 1.6 mile section of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trails between John B. Yeon State Park and Moffett Creek. The project will be completed in early fall of 2013.
The contractor plans to perform blasting of the rock slope in the project area during daytime hours next week. One blast is scheduled and will take place between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. one weekday. During the blasting, there will be a rolling slowdown on I-84 in both directions just east of Multnomah Falls (milepost 32) to milepost 38. Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
The contractor will work during the day Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will close the on-ramp to I-84 eastbound from the John B. Yeon trailhead. Drivers will follow a signed a detour to the Ainsworth on-ramp to I-84 eastbound.
Additionally, crews will close the right lane of I-84 eastbound from McCord Creek to Moffett Creek (milepost 37.5 to 38.5). Trucks will be entering and exiting I-84 during daytime work hours.

Historic Columbia River Highway 100: John B Yeon State to Moffett Creek Project: A contractor has started construction on a new 1.6 mile section of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trails between John B. Yeon State Park and Moffett Creek. The project will be completed in early fall of 2013.
The contractor will work during the day Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will close the on-ramp to I-84 eastbound from the John B. Yeon trailhead. Drivers will follow a signed a detour to the Ainsworth on-ramp to I-84 eastbound.
Additionally, crews will close the right lane of I-84 eastbound from McCord Creek to Moffett Creek (milepost 37.5 to 38.5).
